Rugby: Injury ends Waldrom's All Black hopes

Hurricanes flanker Scott Waldrom is a broken man.

It has been revealed the All Black prospect has broken three bones in his back after taking a blow in the Hurricanes Super 14 semi-final loss against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

Waldrom says the news has made for a terrible week. He says it is upsetting and he was pretty quiet for a while when he was told. He says retaining his place in the All Blacks was his goal - now someone else has a chance to snare it

Waldrom is likely to be sidelined for three months, ending any chance he has of making the All Blacks until the end of the year tour.
