Highlanders winger Hosea Gear has turned down an offer from Japanese club Toshiba and is staying in New Zealand.
Gear said after Highlanders training today he wants to stay and fight for a place in the All Blacks, and will most probably be playing for the Highlanders next year.
Gear missed out on the 35 man All Black training squad last week but may still be seen in the black jersey next month after injuries to Cory Jane and Richard Kahui.
