Hooker Hika Elliot makes his way back from injury to start against the Waratahs on Saturday in what will be Richard Kahui's 50th match for the Chiefs.
Elliot has recovered from an eye injury and starts ahead of Mo Schwalger, who is on the reserves bench. Wing Lelia Masaga makes a return from a knee injury and is on the bench.
For All Black Kahui, the match at Waikato Stadium will be special one.
"Reaching 50 games for the Chiefs will be a special achievement. Every match in this competition is tough so after the bye the boys will be ready for another brutal encounter on Saturday night,'' he said.
The Chiefs lead the New Zealand conference following the Highlanders' first loss of the season, to the Brumbies in Canberra, with the Waratahs coming into the match following a thrilling 34-30 win over the Sharks in Sydney.
