The Crusaders are desperate to lure back fans to Christchurch's AMI stadium.

Canterbury Rugby Union is slashing season ticket prices by more than 60 per cent for some seats.

Supporters will be able to get a season ticket in the new Deans Stand for as little as $3.69 a week, while elite Platinum tickets have been reduced to just under $400, a cut of around $140 for the season.

Chief executive of Canterbury and Crusaders Rugby Hamish Riach says the number of season ticket holders has dwindled in recent years. He says research suggests one reason is price, so with the new stand about to be opened, they are now doing something about it.
