KEY POINTS:
Verdict: The first 7 rounds have been a roller-coaster for the Crusaders, with 3 wins from 6 games. The return of 7 ABs for the remaining rounds should help.
Biggest surprise: I have to admit the team has rallied around the captain and, collectively, they are playing some fantastic rugby.
Hero: Stephen Brett has really shown us what he is made of with consistently impressive, influential performances.
Zero: I don't know who made the fatal call in the 80th minute against the Sharks, but let's just hope that they think more clearly in future.
Freeze frame: If we could freeze frame the 79th minute of the Sharks game and regard the game as over when the siren sounded, things would be just a little easier.
My time: The thing the Crusaders need most is an injection of some experienced campaigners and Graham Henry agrees - some familiar faces will be warmly welcomed in round 8.
In the national interest: In terms of the All Blacks prospects at RWC 2007, they are looking good. Especially considering we only need 8 or 9 players from the teams we have seen in the first 7 rounds and each team has had its stars.
Top-four or trapdoor: With a 50/50 win-lose record and the services of some top players for the remaining rounds, the Crusaders are looking good for a semifinal berth.
Champions: With semifinal hopes alive, and considering the Crusaders' experience in finals rugby, my prediction is a 7th championship win, with the final against the Blues at Eden Park. It would be a fitting send-off for Robbie Deans - and what a game in prospect.
