It's looking increasingly likely the Crusaders will be playing on Rugby League turf for the next Super Rugby season.
It's understood Rugby League Park in Addington will undergo a complete overhaul to be ready in time for the 2012 season.
Both stands and the embankment will be ripped down, the turf will be relayed and a brand new 25,000 capacity temporary stadium is expected to be built.
Confirmation from the council is due before the end of the month but plans are already underway.
It's understood a permanent new indoor stadium will be built in time for the 2013 season, at Riccarton Racecourse or the Showgrounds in Wigram.
