Hooker Dane Coles has been cleared of an ankle break but the Hurricanes' hooking stocks are being stretched with fellow rake Motu Matu'u also leaving the field in last night's 29-28 win over the Crusaders at Westpac Stadium.
Coles was replaced in the 42nd minute but an x-ray on his left ankle was clear. Matu'u received a knock to his shoulder and also came off with two minutes to play.
Both players will be monitored over the next 48 hours but could be in doubt for next week's visit to Dunedin to face the Highlanders. The Hurricanes have a bye the following weekend.
"It was a physical game last night and after the intensity of that second half there will be a few sore bodies today," Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett said. "The medical team will monitor both Dane and Motu over the next couple of days and should be in a better position on Monday to determine the seriousness of the knocks and when they are available to train and play."
