Canterbury lock Matt Symons and Tasman loose forward Liam Squire have been signed to to bolster the Chiefs' forward stocks for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
Twenty-four year old Symons has been a strong performer for Canterbury this season after moving over from England, where he played for Esher and was a former British rower. At two metres tall and 117kg, he has proven to be highly mobile with strong aerial ability.
Squire's athletic style caught the eye of several Super Rugby franchises and Chiefs assistant coach Tom Coventry said he was delighted to land the 196cm loosie.
"The appealing aspect of both of these players is that they are highly ambitious and keen to grow their games in the Chiefs culture which is exciting for all parties involved," Coventry said.
"Matt has taken the opportunity to secure a starting position in ITM Cup and in doing so has been a stand out player for us.
