Former Waikato and Otago rugby representative Tom Coventry has been confirmed as the Chiefs assistant coach for next year.
The present Hawke's Bay co-coach will act as the right hand man for Dave Rennie, who succeeds Ian Foster in the role in 2012.
Coventry is currently helping Hawke's Bay prepare for the national provincial championship starting in mid-July.
In August he will join the Samoan World Cup side as their forwards coach, before taking up his role with the Chiefs immediately after the that tournament in New Zealand in September and October.
"While I have my hands full this year I do feel very privileged that I will be working with the very talented Magpies, before going into camp with Samoa," Coventry said.
"I'm really looking forward to working with the Chiefs, and working as part of a strong franchise environment and a great style of rugby."
