The Super 15-leading Chiefs have made five changes to their starting line-up as they chase a ninth win on the trot against the lowly Lions at Pukekohe on Saturday night.
After securing their eighth win of the competition last weekend against the Hurricanes, the Chiefs have taken the opportunity to rest and rotate their squad for the clash with the second-bottom Lions.
The competition's leading try-scorer, prop Sona Taumalolo, has been given a break and is replaced by another try-scorer from last week's win, Toby Smith.
Flanker Sam Cane gets a start with Tanerau Latimer moving to the left of the scrum, while Liam Messam is out with injury. Lock Brodie Retallick has been given his first rest of the year, which sees Michael Fitzgerald starting in the second row.
Kane Thompson has recovered from a minor neck injury to replace Alex Bradley at No 8, while Asaeli Tikoirotuma comes onto the wing in place of Tim Nanai Williams.
