Chiefs 32 Reds 20
KEY POINTS:
The Chiefs survived a storming second half from the Queensland Reds to continue a relentless bid for a playoff berth in the Super 14 rugby competition with a thrilling victory tonight.
After ending the Crusaders unbeaten run last weekend, they beat the Reds 32-20 in Hamilton, with winger Lelia Masaga scoring two of their four tries for their fifth consecutive win.
Reds centre Morgan Turinui, in a homecoming game, also scored two tries in an unanswered 17-point haul in the second half by the Reds until the Chiefs snapped that with a bonus-point earning intercept try through No 8 Sione Lauaki.
While they managed to move into the top four with the victory, the Chiefs face a rather difficult home run with their remaining three games away - to Western Force, the Lions and the Sharks.
Chiefs 32 (Lelia Masaga 2, Stephen Donald, Sione Lauaki tries, Donald 2 pen, 3 con), Reds 20 (Morgan Turinui 2, Digby Ioane tries; Berrick Barnes dropped goal Clinton Schifcofske con). Halftime: 24-3.
