The battle for the Chiefs vacant fullback berth begins against the Highlanders in a Super 14 pre-season warm-up match in Dunedin this afternoon.
With Mils Muliaina out of the first three rounds of the competition and regular stand in Sosene Anesi shifting to the Waratahs, the 15 jersey is up for grabs. Counties youngster Tim Nainai-Williams starts at fullback today.
However coach Ian Foster says utility Dwayne Sweeney and All Black first five Mike Delaney are also options down the road.
He says he is keen to keep Sweeney on the wing as much as possible in the pre-season and also play Delaney at number ten.
The match kick is off at Carisbrook at 2.30pm, also today, the Highlanders host the Blues.
