Brumbies winger Henry Speight will miss the Super Rugby playoffs after being suspended for five weeks.
Speight was found to have contravened a lifting tackle law after being sent off for his tackle on the Stormers player Juan de Jongh in the 74th minute of their Super Rugby quarterfinal in Cape Town last weekend.
Speight took de Jongh out without the ball, appearing to flip the Stormers centre onto his head.
The suspension means Speight will miss his side's semifinal clash with the Hurricanes this weekend in Wellington, a boost for the hosts who would have had to deal with the former Waikato winger's powerful running.
Recipient of two caps by the Wallabies, Speight will also miss the next two Australia test matches as a result of the ban.
