KEY POINTS:
The Blues will have their first serious test of rugby's new laws this afternoon, alongside test referee Steve Walsh.
Last seasons semifinalists will play an inter-squad match at their Unitec base in Auckland, as they head towards the start of the 2008 Super 14 season next month.
Blues coach David Nucifora said a proper test, with a top referee, will be crucial to learning how to play under the game's new rules.
He said they did a session before Christmas with Walsh and he does not expect everything to go well.
Captain Troy Flavell added the opportunity to learn how the rules affect their position is crucial as everyone's role will have changed, and they will need to adapt.
This evening the Hurricanes and Crusaders have their first hit out in Motueka.
