It looks like the News Limited-NZRU standoff will carry on well into the Air New Zealand Cup playoffs.
The two parties locked horns at the end of last week, discussing the Union's plan to rest at least 22 players out of the start of next year's Super 14.
News Limited has flared its nostrils over the move, especially given the fact it was not consulted over the plans. Company officials now want a list of the rested players, with a view to seeking financial compensation for missed matches.
Spokesman Greg Baxter says any resolution is still sometime away.
Baxter says they hope to have a list of players presented this week, then they need to take that list to broadcasters. He says the situation might not be resolved for at least a few weeks.
