Only a final fitness test on blindside flanker Reuben Thorne has complicated the Crusaders' build-up for tomorrow's match with their arch-Super 12 rivals the Blues.
The former Crusaders captain has been troubled by a sore back and needs to be cleared today before the Crusaders fly north for the game at Eden Park.
If Thorne is passed fit, the reintroduction of lock Norm Maxwell will be the only change to the Crusaders, who can boast a complete starting XV of past or present All Blacks.
"Maxwell was not available for the first part of the season, but we are fine from here on in and he is in good shape," coach Robbie Deans said.
This will be Maxwell's first game in the Super 12 for 22 months after he missed last year's series to travel the world. He returned to play in the NPC, was picked for the All Black tour to Europe, and was part of the side who dismantled the French in Paris.
Maxwell's return gives the Crusaders some leeway with Ross Filipo still on the injured list after damaging his knee in the opening game against the Brumbies.
Deans said Leon Macdonald was also looking sharp after his return from Japan, and his experience, kicking game and judgment put him ahead of the enterprising Scott Hamilton.
After playing first five-eighths in Japan, Macdonald had adjusted rapidly to his old fullback role with the Crusaders.
"We gave him a lot of content to work on and it did not take him long to get up to speed with what we are doing," Deans said.
The Crusaders and the Blues have created huge rivalry in the competition, which should add spice to tomorrow's clash.
