Coach Robbie Deans has rearranged his team for the Super 14 match against the Cheetahs in Christchurch on Saturday.
Deans today made five personnel changes to the side who last weekend beat the Waratahs 17-11 to sit atop the Super 14 after nine rounds.
Hooker Tone Kopelani and lock Brad Mika come into the forwards while Kevin Senio has been preferred over Andrew Ellis to start at halfback.
Ellis has been in impressive form this season but will be used off the bench against the Cheetahs.
Casey Laulala has been named at centre, with Cameron McIntyre one place inside him.
Regular second five-eighth Aaron Mauger has been named on the bench as he overcomes a rib injury which has bothered him this week.
Crusaders:
Leon MacDonald, Rico Gear, Casey Laulala, Cameron McIntyre, Scott Hamilton, Daniel Carter, Kevin Senio, Mose Tuiali'i, Richie McCaw (captain), Reuben Thorne, Brad Mika, Chris Jack, Campbell Johnstone, Tone Kopelani, Greg Somerville.
Reserves:
Corey Flynn, Wyatt Crockett, Kevin O'Neill, Johnny Leo'o, Andrew Ellis, Aaron Mauger, Caleb Ralph.
