Crusaders 35 Waratahs 25
The Crusaders have won their fifth Super 12 final in Christchurch tonight, with a 35-25 victory over the Waratahs.
The Crusaders outscored the Waratahs four tries to three, but had to withstand a late fightback from the visitors, who scored 19 unanswered points in the final quarter.
It is a fitting end to the Crusaders careers of Justin Marshall and Dave Hewett.
Marshall says he could not have asked for a better farewell.
He says he never dreamed he would finish his career playing a final with the players he loves, in front of the crowd who have supported him throughout his career.
Scott Hamilton, Dave Hewett, Leon MacDonald and Caleb Ralph scored tries for the Crusaders, while Dan Carter kicked two penalties and three conversions, and Aaron Mauger added a drop goal.
Mat Rogers scored two tries for the Waratahs with Phil Waugh grabbing the other.
Peter Hewat kicked two penalties and a conversion, and Rogers also slotted a conversion.
The Crusaders led 14-6 at the break.
