The Crusaders will have a new captain for the first half of the Super 14 season.
Corey Flynn will lead the defending champions in the absence of All Blacks captain Richie McCaw from the first seven rounds.
Flynn says coach Robbie Deans caught him on the hop.
He says a couple of weeks ago he shook his hand and said congratulations and Flynn thought it was just because he was in the Crusaders again.
The Super 14 squads are set to be named around 10 o'clock this morning.
