The Hurricanes have had the green light to switch a home Super 14 rugby match from a Friday to Saturday night early next year to avoid a clash of codes.
The team were scheduled to play the Blues on February 16 at Westpac Stadium, but it clashed with a cricket one-dayer there between New Zealand and Australia.
Another option was to play in other home provinces such as Manawatu, Hawke's Bay or New Plymouth but it would have had financial costs for the franchise.
A Hurricanes spokesman said the match would now be played at the stadium on February 17 following an agreement with broadcaster Sky Television.
