The TAB looks back over the Super 15 action from the weekend.
Here's what happened with the big bets over the weekend...
Biggest winners:
- $11,100 on the Stormers at $1.30 was a good bet and gave the customer a $3,330 profit
- $7,000 on the Crusaders at $1.25 gave the customer a nice $1,750 pay day
Biggest loser:
The score was 9-all at half time in the Crusaders v Hurricanes match when the TAB opened the Points Start book. One unlucky customer put $10,000 on the Hurricanes +5.5 Points Start at $1.70 and only just missed out at the Crusaders won by 7 points.
What is a Points Start?
This bet type gives punters the chance to back an underdog, yet still win if their team is just beaten, or alternatively receive a better dividend on a favourite. The underdog gains a head start, while a handicap is given to the favourite.
Note: the Points Start bet type includes a half point to eliminate the possibility of a draw.
At half time in the Crusaders v Hurricanes match the following Points
Start opened:
Crusaders -5.5, i.e. The Crusaders had to win by 6 points or more.
Hurricanes +5.5, i.e. The Hurricanes had to either lose by 5 points or less, or win.
What could you have won big on this past weekend?
If you had backed this Multi last weekend you would have banked $15,109.13 for only $10!

Force by 12 & Under $2.80
Reds by 12 & Under $3.00

Here we talk through a shock of the week that really had the TAB bookies stumped for words...
Since 24 April the Bulls hadn't suffered a loss. It had been 6 wins and a bye as they headed into the last round against the Sharks who they had beaten in week 14 in Sharks territory. That coupled with the fact they are experienced finals campaigners and were playing at home for the 1st time after their travel throughout Australasia made them favourites heading into the match.
However as we saw on Sunday morning the Sharks came out and were able to win 23-26 to earn the sixth and final position in the Super Rugby playoffs. Can they hold up like the Bulls team might of? We are yet to see...
Last week there was one game the absolutely stumped the bookies. The Chiefs v Reds match was one that was argued over a number of times and in the end it was put to market completely even. Both teams were paying $1.87 and it was pretty touch and go as to weather the Reds were even able to fly over because of the ash cloud. However, the team from Queensland got on the plane and landed in Hamilton to find the weather pretty unfavourable.
The money that piled on the Chiefs coupled with the horrible weather that the Queensland men weren't used to made the Chiefs favourites and the Reds shot out to $2.00 in the Head to Head market. But, as only Super Rugby table toppers can do they came away with a pretty convincing victory which will give them a lot of confidence heading into the playoffs.
