The Blues are no clearer about the weekly question: who will wear the No 10 jersey?
The decision to switch Isa Nacewa from fullback worked on Friday when he delivered a sparkling response in the 30-17 victory against the Bulls.
Nacewa's assurance bailed the Blues out after the selectors revealed they would rest Tasesa Lavea and then Luke McAlister was injured.
But a dilemma is looming. McAlister is expected to recover from his shoulder problem for this week's match against the Stormers at Eden Park.
If he is cleared to play, who makes way? Brent Ward brought an exciting edge and security at fullback while Rua Tipoki and Anthony Tuitavake are familiar with each other's nuances in midfield.
Nacewa could stay in the first five-eighths role but that would not square with the selectors' season choices of Lavea and McAlister, it would be a serious admission halfway through a campaign.
It was understood a fit McAlister was going to run the backline last week so if he is cleared this week that idea may be revisited, leaving the selectors to reposition Nacewa.
It is unlikely loose forward Angus Macdonald will play against the Stormers after damaging a knee ligament against the Bulls. His replacement, Onosai Tololima-Auva'a, did well but the coaching staff hope specialist opensider Daniel Braid will be cleared to return on Saturday. Others facing medical clearances are Doug Howlett and Steve Devine.
