KEY POINTS:
All Black and Canterbury halfback Andy Ellis is calling for Robbie Deans to be retained by the Crusaders, even if he is confirmed as the next Wallabies coach.
It is widely tipped that Deans will be given the Australian job, with the NZRU yet to decide whether he can stay in charge of the six time Super 14 champions.
Ellis says Deans is a great coach and deserves the chance to finish what he has already started.
He says Deans has a lot of ideas and things in place so it would be good for him to be given the chance to see those systems through.
Ellis says it is out of the players' hands and all they can do is focus on getting the job done at training and assess the decisions once they are made.
