CAPE TOWN - Coach Jake White has recalled Conrad Jantjes to the Springbok side after a four-year absence for Saturday's one-off test against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
Jantjes, who made the last of his eight test appearances against the USA in December 2001, was one of four changes to the Springbok starting fifteen that completed the Tri-nations series with a 31-27 defeat by New Zealand in August.
Also recalled for his first test appearance of 2005 is halfback Bolla Conradie while there were two changes in the back row with Jacques Cronje starting at number eight and Solly Tyibilika on the flank.
Only two of the changes were forced by injury. Conradie returns in place of injured 2005 regular halfbacks Ricky Januarie and Fourie du Preez while Cronje starts in place of Joe van Niekerk who was also unable to tour because of injury.
There were four changes to the bench as well with De Wet Barry and Schalk Burger dropping down to make way for Jantjes and Tyibilika while halfback Michael Claassens and utility back Brent Russell join them among the replacements.
The Springboks also play tests against Wales in Cardiff (Nov.19) and France in Paris (Nov.26).
