For the record
Japan's sole try of the game came from an intercepted pass by their left winger Hirotoki Onozawa, playing in his 10th World Cup match. It was his 3rd World Cup try, and his 43rd in test rugby. He also becomes the fifteenth player to have scored a try in three different World Cups.
Onozawa and Murray Williams became only the third and fourth Japanese players to score points against the All Blacks (Williams had just the one kick at goal and was successful in converting Onozawa's try).
Sonny Bill Williams scored his first try for the All Blacks, playing in his 9th test match.
Japan have now conceded 1,105 points in RWC matches, more than any other team in the history of the tournament.
