The Black Ferns have solidified their place as Aotearoa’s joint most successful national sports team, claiming a record sixth World Cup title.
The only teams to match that consistent level of performance are the Black Sox, who also hold six world titles, and the Silver Ferns, who themselves could claim a sixth World Cup title next year.
Despite the persistent narrative that audiences aren’t interested in Women’s sports, the Rugby World Cup saw stadiums filled during the tournament and more than 1.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the final live on Three.
