Back row Josh Strauss and tight-head prop Willem Nel were both born in South Africa, while head coach New Zealander Vern Cotter also has Zimbabwe-born back row David Denton in his ranks.
South African flanker Schalk Burger admitted he and his team-mates was aware of the potential problem, joking that his team may have to look for an alternative.
