Four players from the Rugby World Cup champion All Blacks made the cut in the Herald's Team of the Tournament.
Owen Franks, Jerome Kaino, Ma'a Nonu and Israel Dagg were all named in the 'dream team' while Ireland had the next most representatives with three.
The Southern Hemisphere just led the way with eight players compared to seven from the North Hemisphere including two from Wales and France.
Last week nzherald.co.nz asked readers to pick their team of the tournament and more than 11,000 people had their say.
All Blacks dominated voting filling 14 of the 15 spots. Lock Sam Whitelock was the only All Black to miss out on the Herald readers' team of the tournament being pipped by South Africa's Victor Matfield by 2000-odd votes.
Kaino received the largest majority with 82 per cent of votes for the best blindside flanker of the tournament. Kaino finished with 9152 votes compared to second placed Thierry Dusautoir who had just 650.
Dagg had the next largest majority with 74 per cent of votes.
The closest position was left wing where less than 600 votes separated Richard Kahui and Australia's Digby Ioane. Despite missing the knockout stage of the tournament injured first five-eighth Dan Carter was named as the best number 10 of the World Cup.
