Rugby World Cup: Wallabies sweating on injuries

Robbie Deans is waiting on results of scans to a duo of key backs before he plans how to attack the All Blacks in the semifinal.

The Wallabies coach is sweating on Kurtley Beale's injured hamstring and Pat McCabe's shoulder.

More should be known today and if the results aren't as hoped, it could mean another backs re-shuffle.

In the forwards, coaching co-ordinator David Nucifora believes David Pocock proved with his effort against the Springboks that he's a key to their chances.

He says Pocock's performance was one of the best he's seen by a number seven.

"We've had some outstanding sevens with the Wallabies over the years, but David's effort yesterday was right up there. He's was outstanding from start to finish," he said.

It'll be a lighter training load for the Wallabies in the early stages of the week as they try to both recover and prepare.

While they're overcoming the bruising encounter with the Springboks, they have to get up for the biggest match of recent memory.

Coach Robbie Deans says things will slightly change.

He says they'll still do all the training sessions, but early in the week they won't be as physical.
