The front page of Sydney's Daily Telegraph declares war on McCaw.

The Wallabies have been urged to watch out for the "Ritchetty grub" - a supposed pest that's more commonly known as Richie McCawesome on our shores.

According to a tongue-in-cheek piece in the Daily Telegraph, the "Ritchetty grub" has already been officially recognised as a pest over the ditch.

"The Richetty grub, aka Richie McCaw, hails from Oamaru in New Zealand and is known for its dubious breakdown tactics, electrical tape around its large head and smug grin on its face," James Pandaram wrote in the Telegraph.

Clearly concerned about what might happen in the upcoming Rugby World Cup final, the author goes on to accuse the "mortal enemy to the Wallabies" of being a cheat.

"Whether it's coming in illegally from the side, rolling away from the maul the wrong way to disrupt the halfback's passing, or holding on to the tackled player too long, the Richetty grub is the master of the dark arts of breakdown cheating."

Even referee and "Richetty grub connoisseur" Nigel Owens is brought into the fray - with statistics presented showing the All Blacks have won nearly 90 per cent of their games under him, compared to Australia's 33 per cent.

And apparently, "the Ritchetty grub has been the chief beneficiary of Owens' favourable refereeing".

Luckily for the Wallabies, the pest they fear the most is likely to retire at the end of this World Cup.
