A positive response from the 1987 World Cup-winning All Blacks to a planned tribute lunch in their honour at Eden Park next month has been matched by a response from sports fans wishing to salute their rugby heroes.
The Halberg Trust invited all 26 players and the management of the team that won the inaugural Cup 20 years ago as the special guests to the first of the 2007 Westpac Halberg celebrity sporting functions at Eden Park on August 10.
Many of the 26 players and all five members of the team management, including coach Sir Brian Lochore, manager Richie Guy and assistant coaches John Hart and Alex Wyllie, have accepted the invitation to revive their World Cup winning memories.
