The Wallabies feel they'll have an advantage over some of their World Cup rivals with Saturday's historic Test against Japan to be played at the venue for the 2019 tournament final.
The Australians face Japan for the first time on home soil at Yokohama Stadium, which will host the decider of rugby's showpiece tournament.
While they are intent on keeping intact their unbeaten record against Japan, they are also using the stopover as a reconnaissance mission before heading to Britain for Tests against Wales, England and Scotland.
Australia are also reportedly planning a Bledisloe Cup Test in Japan next year against New Zealand in another opportunity to familiarise themselves.
Wallabies assistant coaches Stephen Larkham and Nathan Grey also provide indispensable knowledge, having played three and five years respectively in Japan.
