KEY POINTS:
PRETORIA - Foreign-based players will not be selected for South Africa in future in line with the policy practised by the two other Tri-Nations sides New Zealand and Australia.
In a statement on Friday, South African Rugby Football Union chief executive Johan Prinsloo said only players performing in the country's domestic competitions would be eligible for international selection.
The ban re-establishes a rule that was relaxed in 2004 at the request of Springbok coach Jake White.
There are no overseas-based players in the South African squad for the World Cup starting next month.
