MILAN - Italy coach Pierre Berbizier trimmed his World Cup training squad by seven on Saturday (NZ time) with uncapped duo Paul Derbyshire and Alberto Sgarbi missing out.
The Parma flanker and Treviso centre were originally called up from the Under-21 squad last month but have been axed following a training camp along with Christopher Burton, Alessio Galante, Ludovico Nitoglia, Silvio Orlando and Fabio Staibano.
"It has been a difficult decision, I knew it would be," Frenchman Berbizier told the Italian Federation website (www.federugby.it).
The coach, who will hold further get togethers, has until August 14 to name his final squad of 30 ahead of Italy's first World Cup match against New Zealand in Marseille on September 8.
