PARIS - In a World Cup short on upsets so far, Tonga have the chance to rock the boat when they take on England for a place in the quarter-finals on Friday (1800).
England's title defence has boiled down to a straight shootout to reach the knockout phase with both sides going into their final Pool A game at the Parc des Princes with two wins apiece.
The winners will face a Marseille quarter-final with Australia.
England dispensed with Tonga's Pacific island rivals Samoa to get their campaign back on track after a humiliating loss to South Africa, but come up against a Tonga side who have played some excellent rugby in the tournament.
When they played England in the 1999 pool stage at Twickenham the hosts won 101-10, a defeat that Tonga coach Quddus Fielea says has long been forgotten.
"This has been erased from our rugby history. It won't make a difference," he said.
England have made two changes from the team who beat Samoa 44-22 in Nantes on Saturday with Steve Borthwick taking over from Simon Shaw in the second row and Lewis Moody getting his first start for a year in place of Joe Worsley at openside flanker.
Tonga have recalled flanker Hale T-Pole, who was banned for one week for striking an opponent in his team's win over Samoa.
