KEY POINTS:
EDINBURGH - Scotland coach Frank Hadden was in a buoyant mood after his side beat Ireland 31-21 at Murrayfield yesterday.
"It was important to get a winning start to build momentum," he said after his side, who finished bottom of the Six Nations championship, ran in five tries in the World Cup warm-up.
"We worked on certain areas in the summer, more dynamism in the contact, harder work in the driving maul, and stronger scrummaging. I think all these showed through."
The All Blacks will meet Scotland in their World Cup pool C match in Edinburgh on September 24.
Hadden's experiment of playing Chris Paterson at first five-eighth worked well, with Scotland's goalkicker producing a more than adequate performance.
"Chris gives you what you expect. I thought his handling was very good," said Hadden.
Paterson was pleased with the opportunity to show his skills in the number 10 position. "I felt confident. I like to be playing in a position where I'm making decisions," he said.
"It's not been too difficult to make the transition."
Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan was to name his World Cup squad overnight.
