Crowds of flagwaving and chanting Argentinian and English supporters have descended on central Dunedin, hours before the kick-off of their crucial opening match at Otago Stadium.
A visible police presence was increased shortly after 2pm, when an official caravan was towed in the Octagon in front of supporters.
Bars, restaurants and cafes are packed with supporters, while fans driving vehicles decorated in their national colours have been driving down the city's one-way system.
Live entertainment in the Octagon was drowned out by Argentinian fans chanting and singing in front of English supporters, who were enjoying the city's hospitality on a sunny spring day.
