PARIS - England shrugged off injury fears over former skipper Martin Corry today, insisting he will be fit for the defending champions' opening World Cup rugby match against the United States in Lens next week.
The Leicester forward limped off nursing a knee problem during England's 22-9 tournament warmup loss to France in Marseille 11 days ago.
Although Corry did not take part in light training today as the England 30-man squad gathered, coach Brian Ashton delivered an upbeat bulletin.
"Martin didn't train, but he is continuing his rehab from a left knee injury," Ashton said.
"We believe he will be fit and in contention for a place in the 22 for our first pool match."
