KEY POINTS:
PARIS - South Africa centre Jean De Villiers sustained an arm injury in his side's 59-7 rugby World Cup demolition of Samoa today and is a doubtful starter for the Springboks' next pool A game against England on Saturday.
"It's not looking too good for next Friday (Saturday NZ time)," South Africa coach Jake White said after his team's opening World Cup game at the Parc des Princes, in which De Villiers was substituted in the 43rd minute.
"He's got a big bump on his biceps. He's gone to hospital," White said.
White said he even feared De Villiers might be out for the duration of the tournament and would have to be replaced.
"That's a possibility," he said. "We have to wait and see what we hear from the hospital."
