KEY POINTS:
PARIS - All Black first five-eighth Daniel Carter will play in Sunday's World Cup quarter-final against France in Cardiff provided his injured calf has fully recovered by the weekend.
Carter withdrew from last Saturday's final group match against Romania after straining a muscle in training.
"Daniel trained for 50 per cent of the time with the team this morning and looked fine to me," coach Graham Henry told a news conference. "But he is not 100 per cent fit at the moment.
"We hope Dan will be able to train fully with us on Thursday and Friday. We are building him up gradually so he is ready for Saturday (Sunday NZ time)."
If Carter does not play Nick Evans will start in the No 10 jersey.
France, who name their side tomorrow, won the initial skirmish overnight when they called correctly in the coin toss for the choice of uniforms.
The All Blacks will be asked to play in their alternative strip because it clashes with the dark blue of the French.
However, trying to avoid the clash of similar outfits that marred the recent pool game against Scotland, organisers were considering which New Zealand jersey looked least like the deep dark blue strip France have adopted for this tournament.
