KEY POINTS:
* The New Zealand Rugby Union recorded a $1.7 million loss in 2007 (2006: $4.8m loss) compared with a budgeted loss of $4.4 million.
* Revenue and expenses were $101.7m (2006: $93.3m) and $103.4m (2006: $98.1m).
* The loss recorded in 2007 meant the NZRU reserves at year-end were at $78.9m (2006: $79.7m).
* The 2007 Financial Statements have been prepared to comply with New Zealand equivalents to International Financial Reporting Standards.

* New Zealand Sevens staged a remarkable late comeback to claim an unprecedented seventh IRB World Sevens Series title.
* The Black Ferns swept their two-test series against Australia to retain the transtasman Laurie O'Reilly trophy.
* The NZRU reviewed its Community Rugby Plan in 2007. A refreshed, refocused Plan backed by an investment of $25 million will come into effect from 2008.
* The NZRU signed a new four-year global sponsorship deal with Italian heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer Iveco.
