JOHANNESBURG - The South African Rugby Union (SARU) Presidents' Council has declined to extend Springbok coach Jake White's contract beyond the 2007 World Cup until his current agreement expires.
White had asked a council meeting for a two-year extension over a year before it expires at the end of the World Cup in France.
But the Presidents' Council decided he had to wait until after the tournament for his contract to be renewed.
"After a very constructive discussion, the Presidents' Council decided that the matter of extending the national coach's contract would be dealt with within 30 days of the completion of the 2007 Rugby World Cup tournament, as stipulated in his contract," SARU president Oregan Hoskins said in a statement.
