All Blacks: Weakened Tri-Nations squad a possibility

All Blacks management haven't ruled out taking a weakened squad overseas during the Tri-Nations this season.

The Springboks employed the controversial strategy on their road to winning the 2007 World Cup.

All Blacks manager Darren Shand isn't ruling out using the South African blueprint for success.

Shand says the Tri-Nations and Bledisloe Cup are incredibly important to the team but the ultimate goal is to win the Rugby World Cup.

Shand says they haven't reached any decision yet as they're still in the planning stages.
