Wellington coach Jamie Joseph is expected to make a U-turn on the selection of his All Blacks.
All Blacks Rodney So'oialo, Ma'a Nonu and Cory Jane and squad member Tamati Ellison are all likely to start for the Lions in Saturday night's Ranfurly Shield defence against Canterbury.
The quartet was part of a what looked like a shadow Wellington starting 15 at training this morning.
Jane says he is desperate to play.
"I've only had one game in the last five weeks now so... I'm just hanging out for a bit of footy."
All Blacks halfback Piri Weepu remains in doubt as he is still recovering from an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, Auckland will have John Afoa and Joe Rokocoko at their disposal for Sunday's Air New Zealand Cup match against top of the table Bay of Plenty at Eden Park.
They have been released by All Blacks management for the match.
All Blacks flanker Jerome Kaino will sit out this week's match, but will be available to face Otago.
