An assault on Waikato's rugby mascot at New Plymouth's Rugby Park has left a teenage girl cut, bruised and badly shaken.
During the NPC game between Waikato and Taranaki on Friday night, the 17-year-old New Plymouth girl inside the Mooloo costume was pelted with cans and kicked to the ground during the second half.
Then, as the game finished, she was punched in the head.
The girl was still recovering from her injuries yesterday.
The girl's mother said they had not yet decided whether to press charges.
