Claims a Tauranga junior player hid a piece of glass in his hand as he shook hands with the opposition after an end-of-season rugby tournament on Sunday are being investigated by the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union.
However, chief executive Paul Abbot said the union had yet to receive formal notification of any incident. He said the match involved two teams of 10 and 11-year-olds from the Tauranga Sports Club, playing in an end-of-season barefoot tournament. He had heard that between three to five boys were hurt.
