KEY POINTS:
Wallabies winger Lote Tuqiri is awaiting a final offer from the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) before deciding whether to return to rugby league, local media reported on Tuesday.
The ARU is reportedly ready to put a new contract on the table to secure the 27-year-old New South Wales Waratahs player's services for this year's World Cup.
"The intention is that it's not going to be open-ended in terms of time," ARU chief executive Gary Flowers was quoted as saying. "We are not going to be hanging around waiting forever for a response."
Tuqiri, who has has attracted interest from league clubs South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cronulla Sharks, said he was still waiting to hear from the ARU.
"There is no firm offer as yet so I'm just waiting on them," he said. "I've been waiting for them for a while."
Tuqiri has played 50 tests for the Wallabies, scoring 25 tries, since switching from rugby league in 2002.
