First five-eighth David Holwell has brought the curtain down on his career.
He has told Northland coach Bryce Woodward he will not be available for this year's Air NZ Cup season.
Holwell, 33, played 249 first-class games including 94 for Northland in two stints (1995-98 and 2005-08).
He was part of Wellington's 2000 NPC winning team and played 76 matches for the Hurricanes, scoring 676 Super rugby points.
After he returned to Northland, he answered a call from the Blues in 2007 to fill the No 10 spot.
