KEY POINTS:
The Springboks have suffered a massive blow to their Tri Nations hopes with South African media reporting captain John Smit is to miss the rest of the competition.
Smit's hamstring injury, which forced him from the field against Australia after just 10 minutes, will take a month to heal, which ends his Tri Nations campaign.
Bismarck du Plessis, who joined the squad on Monday, will be named as a replacement in the match 22, while Gary Botha will start against the All Blacks.
Lock Victor Matfield and Loose forward Bob Skinstad are in contention for the captaincy while the Springbok management waits to establish the full extent of injuries to Juan Smith and Gurthro Steenkamp.
