New Zealand lost their final match on the first day of the South African leg of the International Rugby Board sevens tournament this morning (NZT), going down to Argentina 14-0.
The loss in the coastal town of George means New Zealand will play Fiji in tomorrow's quarterfinal, after Fiji beat Australia 33-7 to top their pool.
New Zealand opened the tournament with a 41-0 win over Kenya, followed it up with a 31-7 victory over Wales, before going down to Argentina.
With two wins and a loss, New Zealand finished second in their pool and now face a repeat of last weekend's Dubai semifinal, which saw Fiji knock them over and into the second-level plate competition, which New Zealand won.
